PERFORM WITH US

The Tamara Howe School of Dance is a performing art! If you love to perform, consider the benefits of becoming a member of one of THSD’s community minded, award winning Performance Groups!

Our non-competitive divisions perform 4-5 times locally within our community.
These groups include: Sparkle Squad, Dancin' Kids!, Performance Co. & Footworks.

Our competitive division performs 3-5 times locally, attends one competition and participates in multiple conventions per year.  Traveling Team attends one additional competition.  Join our Rhythm Company, YAGP or Travel Team today!

"We chose THSD for our daughter's dance education because we felt instructors were impeccable and that an emphasis on proper technique was always prevalent.  This sets a fabulous foundation for all forms of dancing to be learned.  Families rave about the sheer enjoyment their child comes home reporting and now we see it for ourselves!" ~ K.J.

Rhythm Company

The THSD Rhythm Companies are a privilege and an opportunity for our dancers ages 7 and up (must have had one year of jazz to audition) to learn at an accelerated pace while continually working hard to improve their skills and technique.  It provides more performance and possible competition opportunities which enhances the overall purpose of Rhythm Company.

THSD is home to 3 separate performing companies.  Junior, Pre-Teen  and Senior. Since it is our goal to instill passion for performing than merely the desire to win awards, Rhythm Company members have performance opportunities outside of the competition circuit.  Our company members have performed locally for:

  • Santa Fe Days Parade

  • October Breast Cancer Awareness Month

  • Salina Downtown Parade of Lights & Christmas Performances at the Stiefel Theatre

  • Local Cancer Awareness/Fundraiser Performances

  • Smoky Hill River Festival

  • May Fete in McPherson, KS

  • Sculpture Tour

  • Rolling Hills Zoo Events

  • Salina Symphony Christmas Concert

  • Walt Disney World ~ Disney Magic Music Days

  • Our annual Helping Hands Concert benefiting BBBS Salina

  • Our Friends and Family Showcase

  • and many more!

We believe the lessons learned through concert performances are just as valuable as the competition experience. Our solid reputation for quality reflects our attitude towards performances and competition and our goal to develop in each student a genuine respect for dance as an art form.

Company is a serious commitment on the dancers’ part as well as the parents’ part.  It is a commitment not only to the dancer themselves, but to the peers whom they will work with.

Company requires dedication and commitment to classes and teachers.  It is a group effort and will be successful if all involved work together as a team.  Company is a continuous growing experience in which all dancers must be constantly striving for improvement and excellence.  It is not a point at which the dancer finally reaches a goal and assumes that he/she no longer has to invest time and effort in order to keep that goal.

Dancers are placed at the discretion of the director. Co-enrollment in Ballet, Tap, and Jazz Technique classes required.
